Version 2 – with this design we wanted to promote the important date in Nu Tireni – New Zealand history – 28 – 10 – 1835 – the day the Rangatiratanga signed He Wakaputanga and established their whenua as a sovereign country. Waitangi day represents the signing of Te Tiriti, but this is our Independence Day and should be celebrated and well known to old and young alike.

Wear this with mana and help promote the sovereign – He Wakaputanga o te Rangatiratanga o Nu Tireni 1835.

Combines the flag of the United Tribes of Nu Tireni which was created and accepted as an official flag of Nu Tireni/New Zealand in 1834 – and is still the first and only true flag of the Sovereign in this land, with ‘Declaration of Independence’ text below to show people what it represents, and now the very year of the signing below that – a slight variation on V1 design which has has ‘Tino Rangatira o Nga Hapu o Nga Whare Wakaminenga” – The confederation of the United Tribes.

This will start conversations where you can explain the kaupapa of sovereignty within He Wakaputanga o te Rangatiratanga o Nu Tireni 1835, and let people know the importance of this historical date.
